Read the  below and answer Questions 1- 7.

WALK FOR CHARITY


Dear Friend,

      Please join us for our annual Walk for Charity. Starting in Weldown, you and your friends can choose a delightful 10, 20 or 30 kilometre route.

     The money raised will provide support to help people all over the world. Start collecting your sponsors now and then simply come along on the day. Please read the instructions below carefully, especially if you require transport to and from Weldown.

     See you on Sunday 14 May,

P S. Well done to last year's walkers for helping to raise a grand total of £21,000. The money has already been used to build a children's playground.

START TIMES:
30 km: 8-10 am
20 km: 8 - 10.30 am
10 km: 8 - 11.30 am

The organisers reserve the right to refuse late-comers.

CLOTHING should be suitable for the weather. If rain is forecast, bring some protection and be prepared for all eventualities. It is better to wear shoes that have been worn in, rather than ones that are new.

ROUTE MAPS will be available from the registration point. The route will be sign-posted and marshalled. Where the route runs along the road, walkers should keep to one side in single file, facing oncoming traffic at oll times. If you need help along the route, please inform one of the marshals.
Free car parking available in car parks and on streets in Weldown.

BUSES
For the 10 and 20 km routes, a bus will be waiting at Fenton to take walkers back to Weldown; The bus will leave every half-hour starting at midday. The service is free and there is no need to book.

How is the answer to question 2 comes 10:30? Shouldn't it be 8 am because they said 8 to 10:30 am in the text?

"Earliest" is used for the occurrence of an event which may happen or has happened for the first time. This declares the minimum magnitude of time for the possible incident to come to existence. Latest is used for the occurrence of an event which may happen or has happened for the last time.

Question 7: Which walk does not pass through Lower Brene?Does "10 KM WALK" count? Do I have to write kilometre?

Each lecture runs from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm (3hours) and there is one lecture each day (Monday to Friday): 5 days, so 15 hours.

Oh, come on. It is mentioned in the last sentence of the first paragraph. All courses listed below are free for all students enrolled.

26. Students registered at Westley Business College don’t have to pay for the preparation course. It should be NOT GIVEN. The writer doesn't mention anything about this institution 'Westley Business College" at any point. Nor he does mention that it's free for anyone registered anywhere. It only says the courses are free for the registered students at "Westley Business School". Is this a mistake or it's just me?

24. How many places are there every week for students who want to study computers?The answer would be 20 if the course is offered each week. My answer was "none" as the course isn't offered each week. Please guide. Thanks.

All courses take place in August and for enrolled students, all the courses listed below are free. 22, is impossible.

"This course is run on a “first come, first served...” Here it doesn't mean that person will book by going there. It just says that first come first served. Someone might call and pre-book it. 10 PLACES in each so book early! If you go first then only you will able to do the course. In short, "first come first served. He/she might book by calling which is pre-booking.

Concerning the question 24 - How many places are there every week for students who want to study computers? This is a 2-week course - which means that each course lasts for 2 weeks with 10 places in each course. So each course will consist of 10 students. So during the 2 weeks, there will be only 10 students. Thanks in advance for explaining more about this as I can not figure it out.

@Kaveri, The question clearly says 'All courses are held in the Westley Business School's main building'. In other words, the venue for the classes. In the reading passage, it was not given. So the answer is 'NOT GIVEN'.

Why is the answer to question 28 is 'NOT GIVEN'? It's given at the end that - 'YOU MUST BOOK IN ADVANCE FOR THESE COURSES AT THE WESTLEY BUSINESS SCHOOL RECEPTION'. Please clarify...

Sabin, Instead of writing course 1, 2, 3 you can write the original course names as well.

Course 3 "BASIC MATHS" - "This course is run on a “first come, first served” basis and there are only 20 places"... It means that you have to be in first 20 students to attend this course and that's why you can NOT pre-book a place for yourself.

There is a note at the bottom saying "NB. UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, YOU MUST BOOK IN ADVANCE FOR THESE COURSES AT THE WESTLEY BUSINESS SCHOOL RECEPTION."

There is no information on course 1 and course 2 - there is no need for pre-booking.

Why is 'course 3' the answer to question 22? It says that all courses require pre-booking unless otherwise stated. It does not say, you don't need to pre-book.

The answer is 20. It's a two-week course but it also says there are 2 courses running concurrently with only 10 PLACES in each. That means for both courses it week it is 10+10=20.

No, the answer is 15. Look carefully it is 1 lecture, not 1 hour. The timing from 6-9 = 3 hours multiplied by 5 days = 15 hours.

Would you please explain question number 24? I think the answer is 5 because it is a two week's course and there are two courses and 10 places for each course, 5 places for each week.
